Kazakhstan boosts copper output in January

ALMATY, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan produced 29,713 tonnes
of refined copper in January, up 4.5 percent year-on-year, state
statistics data released on Monday showed.

 Production of alumina, bauxite and lead also increased in
year-on-year terms in January, while refined zinc and
ferro-alloy output shrank by 0.2 percent and 2.4 percent
respectively.

 London-listed miners Kazakhmys (KAZ.L: Quote) and ENRC (ENRC.L: Quote), as
well as Glencore-controlled [GLEN.UL] Kazzinc, account for a
large part of Kazakhstan's metals output. ArcelorMittal
(ISPA.AS: Quote) (MT.N: Quote) owns the country's only steel plant.

 The State Statistics Agency provided the following data for
Kazakhstan's non-ferrous, steel and precious metals output in
its latest monthly bulletin:
